Proverbs 3:7 Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
8 Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil. Then you will have healing for your body and strength for your bones. (Proverbs 3:7-8 NLT)
How wise are you? Most people would say they are pretty smart or ask “compared to who”. Typically though we compare our best decisions to others’ worst decisions and consider ourselves very wise. Proverbs 3:7 warns against this though.
We are supposed to gain in wisdom throughout our lives, and if you are doing this congratulations. However we never reach a point where we could not use more wisdom. We are never called to NOT seek wisdom. We should rely on God and have a respectful fear of Him.
God’s wisdom will show us what is evil, and we are to turn away from it. If we continue to gain in wisdom we will understand why those things were evil. Keeping away from bad things makes you spiritually and physically healthier. In addition to obvious health benefits, following God’s commandments opens up blessings to your body and mind to supernaturally heal us.
Today, how can you gain in wisdom? Tomorrow at church are you punching a clock? Don’t. Seek to gain something from your sermon. Get in the word daily, not to just check something off your list, but to learn and grow in understanding.
